BP plant shuts down after power outage

TEXAS CITY, TX

BP officials say they aren't sure why the facility lost its steam power around 10am Wednesday.

The facility uses steam to power parts of its complex, so when it shut off, plant workers were evacuated as a precaution and product was flared off, officials said. Texas City's fire and police departments were notified.

SkyEye aerials showed what appeared to be white steam venting off from a large smokestack at the facility, but nothing else looked out of the ordinary.

No injuries were reported.
