Fugitive on the run since 1992 captured
HOUSTON U.S. Marshals arrested Edward Rivera around noon Wednesday in Miami. In 1992, Rivera received a 50-year prison sentence on organized crime charges. He escaped from the courthouse and eluded officers after a foot chase through downtown Houston. A U.S. Marshal who just started working Rivera's case two weeks ago tracked Rivera to Miami, where he got busted at a high-end used car dealership. "He denied who he was initially, but when confronted with the photos, he admitted who he was," U.S. Marshals Service Deputy Arthur Marshal said. "He stated, 'It's over.'" Prosecutors will work to extradite Rivera to Houston.
