Houston newspaper publisher has died

A Houston woman who ran one of the largest independently owned and published African American newspapers has passed away. Lenora "Doll" Carter, the CEO and publisher of the Houston Forward Times newspaper died Saturday at her home.

The Forward Times was founded by her late husband Julius Carter back in 1960. Doll took over operations in 1971.

Services in her honor are scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at Holman Street Baptist Church.
