Massive fire destroys northeast Houston home

HOUSTON The fire broke out around 11pm at a home on Reid near Hirsch. Flames were shooting through the roof and garage when firefighters arrived. They had put it out a short time later.

Right now, authorities think it may have started in the garage but are suspicious since no one was living at the home.

"At this time, what we are getting from the neighbors and people standing right here that it should not have been occupied," said District Chief Harold Vaughan with the Houston Fire Department. "There were no utilities connected to the house."

Arson investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
