City council approves sale of property to Lakewood Church

Houston city council approved the sale of the old Compaq Center property to Lakewood Church for $7.5 million. Some city council members had raised concerns about the price tag, saying it was being sold for less than it was worth. In fact, two council members voted against the approval of the sale during this morning's council meeting.

Lakewood Church is currently six years into a 30-year lease of the property, so this sale would end that lease.
