Free yummy treats, music and more

HOUSTON If you have just invested time and money into your garden, you may want to learn about bugs -- the good the bad and the ugly! The Arbor Gate Nursery in Tomball is hosting a free workshop on how to control bugs in your landscaping. They are also offering advice on which bugs are great for your garden and which ones will harm your flowers. The free class is this Saturday at 10am.

Mark your calendars for two freebies on Tuesday, March 23. First, in the morning stop by Starbucks for a free pastry with the purchase of a coffee. The deal is good from 4am until 10:30am or until they run out. You have to have a coupon and you can get it here.

The next freebie is this Tuesday is from 11 am until 8 pm at Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream shops. It's free ice cream cone day and no coupon is required! It's an annual tradition at Ben and Jerry's that dates back to 1979 as a way to thank the community for supporting them in the company's first year. It's a great way to try a new flavor for free! There are four Houston area Scoop Shops.

Get ready to rock and roll, because Spin magazine has an entire free album available for download. The album includes 29 songs from the hottest up and coming artists who are attending the South by Southwest Music Conference currently being held through the weekend in Austin. You'll have to register your email address to get the free album.

McDonald's is giving away free frappes! If you haven't tried it, it's a flavored iced drink with a shot of espresso and cream all blended together. For this deal, you'll have to look for the coupon in this Sunday's Houston Chronicle.
