The incident began when police spotted a suspect in a vehicle burglary at a Dallas high school. The suspect ran away and was tracked to his home.
A tactical squad surrounded the house and spotted the three children inside. Police Sr. Cpl. Gerardo Monreal says it's unclear whether the children were hostages or if they were related to the man, but they were allowed to leave.
The man eventually emerged from the house and was arrested. Police identified him as 26-year-old Jerry Wagner. A working number could not be located.
