Local power company wins $150M grant
HOUSTON
The Energy Department announced a $150 million grant to NRG, the company that runs a huge power plant in Thompsons near Greatwood.
They will install technology on a coal electricity plant to suck off carbon dioxide and pump it underground. The CO2 would be used to get more oil out of the ground. It's called carbon capture and it could be the next big step in fighting global warming.
