The Civil Service Commission wouldn't hear the case, saying that as majors, Brownfield and Stelter weren't covered by civil service. The two workers appealed that decision.
The lawsuit and related appeal were both dismissed yesterday.
Lawsuit against Harris County sheriff dismissed
HOUSTON Former Sheriff's Office employees Jule Brownfield and Kim Stelter sued Sheriff Garcia over their terminations, saying the office's Civil Service regulations only gave Garcia the right to demote them. They got a temporary restraining order, keeping Garcia from filling their positions while they fought their firings, but shortly after, they were denied an injunction.
