Carjacker steals pickup full of scrap metal

PASADENA, TX According to Pasadena police, a man carjacked someone on Southmore at Burke and took off with the victim's Dodge pickup, which was full of scrap metal. A short time later, about 1pm, a Pasadena motorcycle officer saw the pickup on Highway 225.

The officer followed the pickup, but according to police the officer didn't immediately turn on his lights and sirens while waiting for backup.

At some point the suspect apparently knew he was being followed, as he picked up speed and hit another vehicle right before the chase ended on Broadway at Manchester in southeast Houston.

The suspect was taken into custody without any further incident. It's unclear at this time whether the original victim or driver of the vehicle that was hit by the suspect were injured.
