Shotgun-wielding suspect shot at cabaret

A suspect armed with a shotgun was shot by two Houston police officers in north Houston. Two Houston police officers were off-duty, in uniform, working security at the Amazonian Dance Club on the north side. At about 2:30am, the club had just closed and the officers were trying to clear the parking lot.

Investigators say that's when those officers witnessed an argument between two men. One of those men, according to investigators, went over to his vehicle and pulled a shotgun out of his trunk. He then walked over to another man's car and allegedly pointed that shotgun through the driver's side window and threatened to shoot the driver of that vehicle.

The officers, according to police, demanded the gunman drop his weapon. He apparently ignored those commands and kept threatening to shoot the driver of that vehicle. Fearing for the safety of that driver in that vehicle, police say those two officers opened fire on the gunman.

He was shot at least once. We're told he's in serious but stable condition at Ben Taub Hospital. He is expected to survive.

The two officers involved in this incident have a combined 17 years experience on the police force.
