Deputy constable fatally shoots man in NW Harris Co

HOUSTON Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables responded to a call at a home on Spring Path near Ginger Field shortly after 3am Saturday. They were told by a woman at the residence that a man, identified as Jason Turner, was causing a disturbance there before taking off. When deputies arrived, they saw a pickup truck Turner was reportedly driving speeding through the neighborhood.

The responding deputy constable chased Turner, who abruptly stopped at the house of the woman who originally called them. Investigators say Tuner then got out of the vehicle armed with a pistol and began shooting through the door, hitting the woman inside.

The deputy constable says Turner then turned and pointed the gun at him and threatened to kill him, unless the deputy killed him first. Turner reportedly ignored the deputy's orders to get on the ground. Just then, a female visitor ran from the house. Deputies say Turner pointed the weapon at her, and then back at the deputy, and that's when they say the deputy fired several shots that struck Turner.

Turner was taken to Ben Taub Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, where he later died. The female who was struck inside the house is listed as stable. The deputy was struck by flying glass and was treated at the scene.

The case is under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office homicide unit and the Harris County District Attorney's Office. The case will be presented to a grand jury upon completion. Anyone with additional information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office hmicide unit at 713-967-5810.
