CORPUS CHRISTI, TX
Authorities are searching for two
people on board a twin-engine aircraft believed to have crashed
near Port Mansfield in south Texas.
The U.S. Coast Guard was assisting multiple agencies in the
search Friday. The Coast Guard says it got a call from the Federal
Aviation Administration just after midnight Thursday that it had
lost communication and radar contact with the Piper PA-30.
FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford says plane wreckage has been found
offshore in the Laguna Madre and officials are trying to confirm
whether it came from the missing aircraft. The wreckage was about a
mile from the airport.
The aircraft was headed for Port Mansfield after leaving Borger
in the Texas Panhandle on Thursday evening.
