Harris Co. announces plan for money seized from criminals

HOUSTON The Harris County Sheriff's Office on Thursday presented a $500,000 check to Crime Stoppers, money seized from criminals. Crime Stoppers of Houston is the most successful Crime Stoppers program in Texas, and in the month of October alone, Crime Stoppers assisted in the arrests of 673 felons, including 9 suspected killers.

"We are taking money that the bad guys reluctantly gave us and we are recycling it to make sure that we are putting more of them and their colleagues in jail," said Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia.

The money will go to help further Crime Stopper's mission to solve and prevent crimes in Harris County.
