Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that 25 people had been arrested during the last two weeks in relation to drug shipments via the U.S. Postal Service from the Rio Grande Valley. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas said the arrests were the result of an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Hidalgo County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.

Agents visiting local post offices in the Rio Grande Valley found numerous individuals mailing "drug-laden boxes," prosecutors said in a prepared statement. Those arrested were from several cities in south Texas as well as California and Mexico.
