Woman charged over sex assault claim

ROSENBERG, TX Police were called to the Southwest Memorial Hospital on November 8 to investigate a report of attempted sexual assault. According to Rosenberg police, Cecilia Gomez, 23, told investigators that while she was in the custody of the Rosenberg jail on November 7, that the arresting officer went into her cell and asked her to disrobe and had sexual contact with her.

Police say during the course of the investigation it became evident that Gomez had fabricated the story and that there was no evidence to support any type of misconduct on the part of the officer. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Gomez for falsifying a report to a police officer.

Bond in this case has been set at $1,000. The charge is a Class B misdemeanor and is punishable by a fine of up to $2,000 and /or confinement in jail for up to 180 days.
