Man shot at east side intersection

HOUSTON The victim, 20-year-old Curtis Mallard, is expected to survive. Mallard and his brother told police they were in their vehicle, stopped at the intersection of Eastex Freeway and Lyons, and that Mallard was shot when he opened the door to throw out some trash.

No arrests have been made.
