Sketch of suspect in sexual assaults released

HOUSTON The three attacks happened at apartments in the 8,300 block of El Mundo in the early morning hours of June 6, the 1,800 block of El Paseo just before 5am on October 1 and in the 8,100 block of Cambridge at around 8am on October 16.

Police say the three victims were home alone when confronted by the suspect. In two of the three incidents, police believe the suspect entered the homes of women who were home alone through open doors.

The suspect is described only as a black male with a light to medium complexion who is in his 20s to early 40s, around six feet tall and about 200 to 240 pounds.

"He is an opprotunistic person," said Detective Michael Ybanez, with the Houston Police department. "He feels comfortable in the area. We feel like he may live in the area well enough to a degree where he feels comfortable walking around and not be asked questions or anything. But he may not. He may have reliable transportaiton to get in and out. We just don't know. That's why we're asking for the public's help."

One of the victims was able to get away from the man before she was sexually assaulted, police said. Another victim was not so fortunate. Police said she was so badly beaten that she had to be hospitalized.

Anyone with information on these incidents or on the identity of the wanted suspect is urged to contact the Houston Police Department sex crimes unit at 713-308-1180 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
