Wreck kills three in Conroe

CONROE, TX It happened just after 10am at the intersection of Porter Road and South Loop 336 in Conroe.

Authorities say Casey McKinely, 18, was driving a Dodge truck around 10:30am and was speeding, authorities say, when he ran a red light. The truck's impact on the four-door Mazda was horrendous.

The car's roof was flattened and doors and windows were smashed. All three people inside died.

Both the truck and the car skidded, striking a third car. That driver we were told by authorities was not seriously injured.

One of the people in the car died at the scene, police said. Another victim was taken to Conroe Regional Hospital and a third was taken via Life Flight to Hermann Memorial. They later died of their injuries. Police have identified them as Craig Rector, 50, Felicia Hicks, 21 and Freedom Fitch, 24.

Authorities are now trying to determine why McKinley ran the red light.

"There is no indication at this time that alcohol was a factor," said Sgt. Bob Berry with the Conroe Police Department.

Sgt. Berry added that authorities could not yet determine if McKinley faced any other distraction.

McKinley was treated for some minor injuries. He was taken into custody and charged with three counts of manslaughter.

If you would like to help the family with funeral costs, you can donate at any Woodforest National Bank. You have to ask for the account, Cathy Hicks in care of Felicia Hicks and Annabelle Fitch
