Killer still missing after birthday stabbing

HOUSTON Investigators say Alvaro Hidalgo Lopez stabbed Camelia Garza Rodriguez to death during an argument in August. It happened just hours after she celebrated her 33th birthday with her family and friends. Her parents found her body the next day, and Lopez was nowhere to be found.

"Anybody who knew Camelia would have known she was a great loving person, understanding," said Griselda Pedroza, Camelia's friend. "We miss her dearly."

Police say Lopez got a taxi the day after the killing and was dropped off near Hobby Airport. They're looking into the possibility he may have fled to Guatemala, where he is from. Lopez has been charged with murder.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest. Call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
