His wife, Charleen, and their baby son hid in a closet and were unharmed. She called 911 from inside the closet. The indictments allege the suspects killed the doctor by shooting him with a firearm in the course of the robbery, burglary and kidnapping of his wife.
Galvan-Cerna was also wounded in the shootout. Galvan had worked for Dr. Gonzalez as a ranch hand.
All four men are being held without bond in the Austin County Jail pending their next court date, which is scheduled for October 13.
