Three killed in crash in Baytown

BAYTOWN, TX It happened just after 2am on Bayway near Park. Witnesses reported a vehicle traveling north on Bayway attempted to pass two other vehicles at a high rate of speed.

According to police, the vehicle went across both oncoming lanes of traffic before over-correcting and coming back across the roadway. The vehicle rolled over at least once and came to rest in a ditch on the side of the roadway.

Three Baytown men were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Aaron Lee Bishop, 23, Marshall Donnie Head III, 20, and Matthew Cole Smith, 24.

Officers trained in accident reconstruction are investigating this tragic crash.

"They came out and were able to recreate the event as it occurred through measurements," said Detective Alan Cliburn with the Baytown Police Department. "They were able to determine estimated speeds of the vehicle. If there was any other contact involved, they'll be able to determine that as well."

Police say the people in all three cars knew one another, so they're talking to the survivors to try to get a better idea of what happened.
