Four die in duplex fire

PORT ARTHUR, TX Justice of the Peace Tom Gillam III on Monday identified the victims as: 43-year-old Rodney Mitchell Sr.; his 45-year-old wife, Regina Cole; her 18-year-old son Tony Cole; and 67-year-old Louversie Hill, who lived on the other side of the duplex.

Gillam says another teenager at the Mitchell residence escaped unharmed during the predawn fire Saturday.

The Port Arthur Fire Marshal's Office says the fire started in a wall and quickly spread into the attic and other areas. The office says the cause is undetermined, but there is currently no suspicion surrounding the cause of the blaze.

Preliminary findings by the medical examiner's office showed the four victims died of smoke inhalation.
