Associate Pastor Suzette Caldwell of Windsor Village United Methodist Church said, "For the education, for the medical, we're just praying about everything that concerns God's people in Houston."
"We are a God-fearing people and we are a city that loves God," said Houston City Councilmember Wanda Adams.
Those who attended say they left with a new appreciation for life and for the power of a cooperative effort, and they plan to do it again next year.
Event coordinator Jean Gabriel said, "If God gives an assignment then he's going to give you the people, the resources, everything you need to make that assignment successful and this is what we're experiencing today."
Close to 40 pastors from around Houston helped lead the prayer around the 610 Loop project.
