Army battling meddlesome bird

SAN ANTONIO, TX The Army announced Thursday a partnership with The Nature Conservancy to protect habitat for the golden-cheek warbler outside the camp. The Army says the endangered bird takes up thousands of acres at the combat training range.

Camp Bullis is located in one fastest-growing areas of San Antonio. The Army says developers are increasingly pushing the warbler onto its 28,000-acre range to make way for new stores and subdivisions.

Under the five-year deal with the Army, The Nature Conservancy says it will seek to secure conservation easements for the warbler with surrounding landowners.
