Montessori school closes due to illness

HOUSTON School officials at Alief Montessori Community School in the Alief area decided to voluntarily close the campus. The health department says four students at the Montessori school came down with a flu-type illness. The school has roughly 200 students.

According to the TEA website, the school shut down on Tuesday and is expected to reopen Thursday.

The government said last month school districts should only close schools as a last resort.
