Police kill 15-year-old heist suspect

SAN ANTONIO, TX Police haven't yet released the boy's identity. Police Chief William McManus says two officers were patrolling the neighborhood around a west San Antonio neighborhood about 10:45 p.m. Sunday. They saw someone wearing a ski mask run into a Valero gas station and convenience store. The officers reported a possible robbery in progress and stopped.

McManus says the officers ordered the fleeing suspect to stop and disarm, but he turned toward the officers and pointed the handgun at them. Officer Paul Armendariz fired several times, fatally wounding the boy.

No other injuries were reported. The seven-year veteran of the force will serve on administrative duty until the investigation is finished.
