The two are accused of child abuse that resulted in numerous broken bones.
Court documents also accuse the couple of giving the child opiates to keep it quiet while living on the Laguna Indian Reservation in New Mexico. They traveled to Fort Bliss for medical treatment for the child.
They remain in federal custody, according to a news release. Both face life in prison if convicted of the charges.
