Group feeds Houston's hungry kids

HOUSTON Kids' Meals describes itself as Harris County's only meals-on-wheels service for children. The nonprofit organization provides healthy, home-delivered lunches to 1,200 pre-school aged children, year round, Monday through Friday. Kids' Meals says hundreds more children sit on a waiting list to get food due to rising unemployment and the recession. The organization says it needs help to feed those kids.

Kids' Meals Executive Associate Director Ruth Burrell said, "We don't have enough funds. We need more volunteers and donation of food just so that we could target more people that are living in poverty and below."

If you'd like to help, the organization accepts donations through their website, www.kidsmealshouston.org.
