'No selling' policy in place for Dallas priests

DALLAS, TX The Dallas Morning News reported Saturday that Bishop James Stanton has issued the new rules in the aftermath of a suspended priest-stockbroker and related issues.

Church officials say the new policy is designed to eliminate any conflicts of interest.

Last month Stanton suspended the Rev. William Warnky, citing financial regulators' ruling that Warnky defrauded an ex-parishioner of $50,000. Warnky was already serving 10 years' probation for contempt of court because he didn't pay a similar amount of child support to one of his ex-wives.

Attempts to reach Warnky Saturday by The Associated Press were not immediately successful.
