Mega Millions ticket fever spreads

HOUSTON Lotto fever is heating up. While we haven't seen long lines yet at convenience stores around town, clerks tell us just wait till later today.

The Mega Million jackpot has grown to an estimated $333 million, the third largest jackpot ever in Mega Millions history. That's because no ticket matched all six numbers in Tuesday's drawing. The jackpot has rolled over now 14 times without a winner, growing since July.

The odds of hitting the jackpot are slim. Lottery officials say it's one in 176 million, but people are still taking a shot at it. Some are deploying a certain strategy they think will give them a better chance.

"Different places, different tickets and different numbers," said lottery ticket buyer Bill Boyer.

"I'm into it. I think this is the fifth one we bought. At work we did a pool. My husband said, 'Go get some more.' Se we'll probably get some more everywhere we go," said ticket buyer Debbie Jordan.

It's only fair to note also that there are smaller possible winnings and the odds of hitting one of those or the jackpot are about 1 in 40.

The big drawing happens at 10pm. You can check your winning numbers by clicking here.
