Troubled school to stay open

HOUSTON The HISD board of directors was considering closing the school because of low enrollment and poor academic performance. However, the board decided to wait.

Today HISD and local officials will hold a press conference to announce the formation of a task force. The task force will help EO Smith restructure and will ask for additional funding.
