Homeless kids get set for school

HOUSTON The Star of Hope's women and family emergency shelter hosted its annual back to school backpack bash Friday morning. Staff and volunteers handed out school supplies, uniforms and back packs to school age children currently living in the shelter. Artbridge, HISD and Second Baptist Church donated the items.

"They are giving the kids backpacks and it's a real help," said homeless parent Tomeka Taylor. "We don't have anything to give the kids."

On Monday, the children will get on buses and head to classes at Rusk elementary, EO Smith middle and Wheatley high schools.
