Mattress on freeway causes several wrecks

HOUSTON It happened just before midnight on the Katy Freeway near T.C. Jester. A woman tried to get around the mattress in the middle of the freeway but was hit by the car behind her.

As that accident moved over to the side of the road and wreckers moved in, a Precinct 5 deputy constable hit the mattress and lost control. He slammed into the concrete wall, but wasn't hurt.

Wrecker drivers then finally got the mattress off the freeway.
