Two arrested in El Paso for child abuse

EL PASO, TX A statement Thursday from FBI Special Agent in Charge David Cuthbertson says a medically retired Army soldier, 29-year-old Thelton Andres Riley Jr., was arrested on one count of injury to a child. His girlfriend and the mother of the victim, Leesa Truijillo, was arrested on one count of child endangerment. Both are from the Laguna Indian Reservation in New Mexico.

They had traveled to El Paso for appointments at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Truijillo awoke at the Ft. Bliss Lodge to find her child not breathing in the early morning hours of Aug. 10.

An autopsy revealed the child had recently suffered several broken ribs, one broken arm and both legs broken.
