New closure date for Gulf Freeway

GALVESTON, TX The Texas Department of Transportation planned to close a short section of the Gulf Freeway last weekend to demolish the Calder Road Bridge, but rescheduled it to September 11 because of complaints from businesses.

Galveston officials again complained the new closure date would interfere with events for the Hurricane Ike anniversary. The new closure date is August 28-30.
