Barwin, 22, was selected with the 46th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft out of the University of Cincinnati. He is the seventh of eight drafted players to sign with the team.
He earned All-America and All-Big East Conference honors as a senior last year. He moved to defensive end prior to his senior season and recorded 53 tackles (27 solos), led the team and the Big East with 12.0 sacks for minus-74 yards and deflected eight passes.
The Detroit native received the Claude Rost Award as a senior at Cincinnati, given annually to the team's Most Valuable Player.
