Border Patrol sets pot seizure record

McALLEN, TX A Border Patrol statement states that agents have confiscated more than 750,000 pounds of the drug since Oct. 1.

According to the statement, agents working the 17,000-square-mile deep South Texas region capitalized on increased manpower and more desperate drug traffickers to set the record with more than two months left in the fiscal year.

The Rio Grande Valley sector is second in the nation for marijuana seizures. Only agents in the Tucson, Ariz., sector, have logged more, seizing more than 1 million pounds of the drug.
