Teen arrested in church vandalism

FREEPORT, TX A 15-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the racist graffiti. Freeport Police tell us the teen is charged with criminal mischief and they believe he acted alone.

Young members of the Agape Fellowship Church praise team first spotted the graffiti around 8am Sunday when they got to church. They say they found doors and sidewalks around the church spray painted with anarchist stars, "666" and the "N" word. Someone also wrote "Satan's parking space" near the front parking lot.

Most of the graffiti has been cleaned up. The church bishop and members say the church has been the target of racially motivated crime before, when a dead black cat was left on their front step. That makes this discovery particularly jarring.

"You don't really want to think about things like that still happening today, especially because of everything that has gone on," said church member Elaine Nelson. "But, it was shocking, especially to see that word -- shocking and upsetting."
