Reporter kidnapped on his way to work

HOUSTON Eric told police a man with a gun forced his way into his vehicle, and told him to drive to Beaumont, where the gunman was trying to see his child. Once in Beaumont, the carjacker called the child's mother. That woman's father picked up the phone and told him not to come to the house.

Police say the carjacker demanded Eric return back west, and hopped out near the intersection of Irvington and Cavalcade in northeast Houston

"He was terrorized," said Sgt. Ronald Pinkerton with the Houston Police Department. "He understands this person is using a gun, is taking his freedom away and for those couple of hours, controlled what happened to him."

Eric was not hurt. Police say they are working on some leads, but would not elaborate.

Using our exclusive Crime Tracker, taking a look at the area where Eric was carjacked, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults are all up for the first three months of the year, compared to last.
