Teacher charged with child pornography

BROWNSVILLE, TX Federal officials have unsealed the grand jury indictment of Ramiro Lozano, a 46-year-old choir teacher at Brownsville's Besteiro Middle School. According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Lozano has been fired from the school district. He is expected to turn himself in on Tuesday.

An investigation of Lozano began after Weslaco police found him asleep in his vehicle in December. Each exploitation count carries a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Lozano could not immediately be reached by the phone and does not have an attorney listed in the court record.
