Feds raid dog fighting operation in TX

HOUSTON Some of the operations are in east Texas, in Panola and Gregg counties.

As many as 350 pit bulls were seized and about 30 people were arrested in all five states. The raids followed a more than year-long investigation prompted by information gathered by the Humane Society of Missouri.

In North Texas, authorities seized almost 500 dogs from a breeding ranch in Montague County. Sheriff's deputies had received complaints that the dogs didn't get proper veterinary care. Several dead animals were found at the ranch, and others had skin conditions.

The husband of the kennel's owner said the dogs were properly cared for and that authorities got bad information.
