Tip leads to suspect's arrest

FRESNO, TX As a result of a Crime Stoppers tip, detectives were led to the 1800 block of W. Phillips Ave. in Alvinm where they identified Hutchinson. Fort Bend Detectives obtained an arrest warrant naming Hutchinson as the person responsible for one of these aggravated robberies.

On Saturday, the Fresno Grocery at 3503 FM 521 in Fresno was robbed shortly after 8am. It was followed by a second robbery at Fresno Food Mart at 4327 FM 521 at about 5:35pm.

In both robberies the suspect entered the store armed with a knife. He placed the store clerks in a headlock with a knife held to their throat and ordered them to open the cash register. In each case, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the registers and then fled in a gray or gold mid-size SUV.

Fort Bend and Missouri City Detectives believe the same individual is suspected of robbing the Valero Station, 2975 Texas Parkway, Missouri City, on Saturday at approximately 4:40am and the Shell Station, 7118 Hwy 6, Missouri City on Sunday at approximately 9pm.

The clerk at the Shell Station was stabbed by the suspect and was transported to Ben Taub Hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Hutchinson was transported to the Fort Bend County Jail where he remains incarcerated on a charge of aggravated robbery. His bond has been set at $100,000.

The investigation is ongoing with the anticipation of additional charges forthcoming.
