Police hope you can help catch a killer

HOUSTON Edward Virappen, who was known to friends and family as 'Ricky,' was killed during a robbery at a Popeye's Chicken on FM 529 last month. The young adult was the night manager there. Crime Stoppers is now asking your help in finding his killer.

Investigators say back on May 1, an armed heavyset black male walked into the restaurant and ordered two employees in a cooler in the back. And then, according to witnesses and investigators, Virappen was shot and killed, even though he followed the suspect's instructions.

After months of investigating, authorities say they're running out of leads.

"I wouldn't say dead end. It's more frustrated," said Deputy Russell Gonzalez with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "We're reaching right now. We're trying to work this case as hard as possible, but it's one of those where it's going to be tough and it's going to be a hard one."

"Whoever did this to Ricky, please turn yourself in," said Bhagwatti Virappen, the victim's mother. "It's a great loss for us."

Police want you to take a look at a composite sketch of the suspect and if you know anything about who may have killed Virappen, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
