Fingerprint leads police to murder suspect

HOUSTON A fingerprint led police to Thomas Ashford of Bryan, Texas. They say he killed Alfred Nahapetian, stabbing him multiple times. During an inteview with Ashford, he admitted he had met Nahapetian at a store at 59 and Beltway 8 and accompanied him to Nahapetian's home.

Ashford agreed yesterday to accompany investigators back to Houston. He also told investigators he had a sexual relationship with the victim, which is when he allegedly fatally stabbed Nahepetian.

Nahapetian's body was discovered Saturday morning after his ex-wife and son went to check on him because no one had been in contact with him since June 9. The family called the Harris County Sheriff's Office, who responded to the scene. Upon entry, deputies found Nahapetian dead as a result of multiple stab wounds.
