Chase comes to crashing end

HOUSTON The wreck happened on Main Street at McGregor in the Texas Medical Center. Police say the suspect apparently tried to smash his way past the officer's car. The officer and his children did not suffer any major injuries.

The chase began in northwest Harris County as part of a narcotics investigation. Harvey Willis, the officer's co-worker, said, "I was just shocked that it was one of our guys. (Knowing he had his kids in the car) was something else."

Police say during the chase a passenger in the fleeing car jumped out. He was later caught.

Another passenger was in the car during the wreck. She's been taken in for questioning. The driver is being treated at Ben Taub Hospital.
