Pitching and defense were the story of this one, with both starting pitchers hurling complete games. The Oilers got a run in the bottom of the second when Stephen Shorkey's flare to short left center scored Quinn Guest to give Pearland a 1-0 lead.
And that held up as the game-winner thanks to great defense. Pearland takes game one, 1-0.
