Gulf Coast students have missed days -- and, in some cases, weeks --of school, because of the Hurricanes Dolly and Ike, major flooding in April, the swine flu and other unexpected events, the Houston Chronicle reported Thursday.
The executive associate dean of the University of Houston's College of Education, Robert McPherson, said students who are average and above-average can catch up fairly quickly after missing school.
He says students who are more marginal students can get behind.
