Firefighter, woman injured in apt. fire

HOUSTON Fire broke out just after 2am at the Woodlen Glen apartment complex on Broadway near Rockhill. Half a dozen units were damaged.

When fire crews arrive, they said 70 percent of one unit was completely consumed in flames and smoke.

"I looked outside and everything was orange, red and I saw a couple of people and I just ran outside because the fire was just coming down the aisle. The fire was just like four apartments next to mine," said resident Dalila Lambert.

Fire crews say the real hero this morning was the neighbor of the woman who was in a burning unit. They say he went in and pulled her out, so when they arrived, they just went in to put out the flames.

The fire victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is being treated for smoke inhalation. One firefighter was also transported to the hospital for heat exhaustion.
