Another DNA exoneration in Dallas Co.

DALLAS, TX Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins said Tuesday that 47-year-old Jerry Lee Evans is set to be cleared on an aggravated sexual assault conviction that put him behind bars for 23 years.

According to the Innocence Project of Texas, Evans would be the 21st wrongfully convicted Dallas County inmate cleared through DNA testing. That's more than any county in the nation.

Evans has a hearing Wednesday in state district court. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1987 after being convicted of aggravated sexual assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim was attacked after leaving an entertainment district near downtown Dallas. She picked Evans out of a photo lineup.
